I'd just like to say a few things about today, if I may. Today was my last ever lesson as teacher-sensei at DOEJAP, as my deteriorating spine has forced my retirement. But what a way to go (sounds like I've died doesn't it?)!!
We had a stunning kyu-grading, where ever single student passed and I would say the standard, overall, was very good indeed.
Two gradings in particular are worthy of a mention - Claire Thomas & Michael Anwyll. Claire's very first grading and she gained the prestigious DOEJAP grading trophy for her absolutely flawless work. Michael completed his 1st Kyu grading, which is one of the toughest gradings to do. Although hard, complex and demanding Michael managed to get through it and gained his 1st Kyu.
BUT...this isn't goodbye. It's merely the start of the next chapter..... see you all next year!
